Descriptions
Short
DropVolley trains the decisions in tennis: real match situations on a court diagram, tactics taught one decision at a time, and a journal for the season. Free to start, in seven languages.
Long
Most tennis apps measure strokes. DropVolley, built by one developer in Dublin, trains the part club players rarely practise: what to do with the ball. Players work through 156 match situations, each drawn on a court with one answer and the reason it wins the point, and answer a Daily One question that every player gets on the same day. A 38-lesson tactics course, a playbook of two- and three-shot patterns, a 12-week plan and a journal turn those reads into match habits. When a player wants eyes on their strokes, a certified coach reviews a clip and records a voice note; the first review is free.
What's inside
- Tennis IQ: 156 match situations with a court diagram, the answer and why. Misses come back for review.
- Daily One: the same question for every player each day, with the crowd's answer after yours.
- Tactics: 38 lessons, including a doubles chapter. Chapter 1 free, then one free lesson a day.
- Playbook: nine patterns drawn on the court; mark one for your next match.
- Your path: a 12-week plan built from your level, your goal and your tennis days.
- Journal: matches, practice and food in one calendar, with a weekly recap.
- Wall: an eight-rung practice ladder. Camera counting is in beta.
- Coach: a certified coach's voice review of a clip within 72 hours, and a free swing check that runs on the phone.
Worth knowing
- The swing check is a quick on-device read: it finds the strikes and shows stills around contact. It is not a full biomechanical analysis.
- Wall camera counting is labelled beta in the app; any rung can be cleared by hand.
- Premium is the AI coach chat (50 messages a day), AI swing notes (3 a day), every tactics lesson without the daily limit, and wall camera verdicts. Everything else is free.
