Spotter

An AI coach that actually watches you lift — every squat rep scored on depth and tempo, on-device.

Spotter is an AI lifting coach that films your squat and scores every rep on depth and tempo — on-device, no wearable. It auto-progresses your barbell weights across full-body 5×5, powerlifting, and hypertrophy programs, and coaches the whole session hands-free, with an Apple Watch companion.

The problem

Training alone, no one tells you if your squat hit depth or if the bar is moving right — and generic apps just log numbers or chat at you. You find out you grooved a bad pattern weeks later, and you never know when to add weight.

Why now

On-device pose models are finally good enough to score a lift in real time on a phone. Spotter turns that into a coach: it sees the rep, scores it, and moves the weight — no wearable, no trainer, no video ever leaving your phone.

Why I'm building this

A spotter is the person who watches your set and keeps you honest under the bar. Most lifters train alone and never get that. Spotter is that second set of eyes — it scores every rep and moves the weight for you — built camera-first so it works with the barbell you already own.

How it works

01

Set up your phone

Prop it upright, side-on, about 3 metres away so your whole body is in frame.

02

Lift

Spotter counts and scores each squat rep live, and speaks the coaching so you never look at the screen.

03

Earn the weight

Hit your reps with good depth and the coach adds load next session. Every lift climbs on its own.

What it does

Camera rep scoring

Films your squat side-on and scores every rep on depth and tempo, live — all on-device with Apple's Vision framework. No wearable, no upload.

The coach adds the weight

Hit your reps with good depth and the weight goes up next session; miss it and it holds or deloads. Every barbell lift — squat, bench, row, press, deadlift — progresses on its own.

Hands-free coaching

Counts your reps out loud, reads a coaching note between sets, and runs the rest timer — so you never touch the phone across the room. Warm-up ramp and plate math built in.

Apple Watch companion

Live rep count, last-rep score and rest on your wrist, with a tap to finish a set or skip rest — and a buzz on a bad rep.
